Jefferson County

Louisville, KY

Jefferson County has one of the largest publicly operated school bus fleets in North America. With over 1100 buses operating out of 11 divisions, their operations are complex. In 2013, Jeffco started a search for a new video provider. As part of this search, they tested several systems and from that research developed a specification to fit their unique needs. Through a competitive process, 247 Security was chosen to be their supplier going forward. As part of their requirements, Jeffco specified the installation of a wireless management system that would securely make video available to hundreds of qualified individuals who would, on a daily basis, review video. The challenge was to wirelessly transfer video from bus and make it available to authorized personnel. This network would be set up in all eleven divisions, connecting hundreds of individuals down to the school level. In addition, the video was to be presented in such a way that a reviewer could access using a personal ID, view video sent to them without the ability to alter, save or change the video clip in any way. On the bus, Jeffco had a specific requirement for camera enclosures that had 247 create and manufacture a camera ‘made for Jeffco’. 247 Security ultimately created a custom version of our Touchdown wireless management system to meet Jeffco’ specific needs. This system has now been in place for close to a decade. Up to the present day, Jeffco has recognized that video technology has evolved and they have worked with 247 to update the fleet’s video capacity. New systems, with 360 degree cameras are now being installed under 247 Security’s Techboost program that encourages customers to upgrade their video systems to the latest technology. At the same time, the Touchdown wireless network is being upgraded to 5G, making the transfer process faster. The Jeffco/247 Security story is one supplier and customer work continuously together, evolving technology, with the goal to keep student transportation safe and secure.

North America Central Bus

Illinois

Previously known as Illinois Central, North America Central Bus has been a customer of 247 Security for well over a decade. This large supplier of contract services uses the partnership with 247 to meet the video requirements of their many school district customers. These requirements vary and the versatility of the 247 workhorse DVR, Zeus, has served them well. When a supplier like North America Central has to adapt to specific customer video requirements, having a core video system that can adapt to many configurations is very valuable. The last thing they want is to have to use different DVR’s for different setups. 247’s Zeus is designed to meet all school bus requirements, big and small. From one to 16 cameras to the use of GPS and wireless management, ZeusPT is the one system of chose with 247 Security. There are times when North America Central will need to move a video system from one bus to another and having to be concerned about whether a system can accommodate the needs of a new bus can be a significant and expensive problem. 247’s one size fits all solution eliminates this potential. Working with North America Central and their various bus supplier partners, 247 has been able to manage and maintain this strategic partnership for a long time. The relationship is based on a trust that the technology will serve as advertised and that 247 will stand behind the products with solid support after the sale.
